A Miner's Wife Prayer
by Sandra Philpot
When the coal miner comes out of the darkness, a light is glowing brightly for his return home. That light is the coal miner's wife. Always there to comfort him, feed him, wash his dirty clothes and be supportive until he returns to the darkness.
This web site has paid tribute to the coal miner and respectively done just that. This page I dedicate and commemorate to the miner's wife.
My Mother was also a coal miner's wife, and at her passing I received inspiration to do this page from the Minister who presided over her funeral. In part of his eulogy presentation he spoke of the virtuous woman. He mentioned glamour women, society women, and beautiful women in magazines and how they were recognized. He said the virtuous woman was some times left without recognition.
The coal miner's wife deserves recognition for all the sacrifices she has endured. Being the wife of the coal miner was not easy, I know because I was raised in a coal camp and experienced the hard life and the sacrifices, and because of the living conditions and limited resources. The coal miner's wife was the guiding light for the family.
This commemorative page I dedicate to the coal miner's wife who stood by him and the family in all the adversities which existed. I witnessed this growing up in a coal camp. In my humble way, this web page will recognize the "virtuous woman." Proverbs 31:10
The miner comes out of the darkness to his "light"

We rise before dawn and its cold out side.. We build a fire so it will be warm when the children rise. I make a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, We give thanks to the Lord for his wonderful bounty. We ask and thank the Lord for another day of safety. AMEN
